Haverhill Community Television’s Basic Membership Classes

If you’re interested in learning more about public access television, television production and how you can become a voice in your community, HCTV membership is right for you. HCTV membership is open to any Haverhill resident who is at least 12 years of age. HCTV membership is also available for people associated with a non-profit institution or organization within Haverhill.

The HCTV Basic Membership class is intended to train and certify its students with the knowledge and ability to become independent, contributing video producers, on-air hosts or behind the scenes technical crew. In the Basic Membership class, you will learn about the role of public access television in your community, how to properly set up and operate a field camera, how to run a studio camera and work on shoots as technical crew and you’ll learn terminology to help you better understand the language of television production. The Basic Membership class offers information on a variety of other topics and presents an opportunity for any novice or expert to learn something new.

Upon completion of the Basic Membership class, graduates will be given the title of Volunteer Member and granted access to the use of the facility and its equipment. Volunteers will also have the option to take editing classes in Final Cut Pro 7. Editing classes are booked by appointment. A complete list of the 2013 Basic Class schedule can be found here.
